Innovation Consultant and ambassador

To support creativity within the Converse/ Nike executive team and reflect on organisational structure within the headquarter design team in Boston.

Converse is an American shoe company that designs, distributes, and licenses sneakers, skating shoes, lifestyle brand footwear, apparel, and accessories. Founded in 1908, it has been a subsidiary of Nike, Inc. since 2003.

APPROACH:

Our methods of engagement with Converse/ Nike, as innovation consultants, from ideation to realisation, were radical and specific, making full use of academic research together with theatrical and musical practices, working across different mediums including digital, film, design, music and experiences to lead innovative and inspirational workshops for both the design and executive team at Converse HQ. Through a bold cooperative approach and meaningful contemporary research, we discuss the future of Converse  whil offering an innovative formula for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) collaborations. We connected the team to experts and stakeholders so to inspire the next phase of innovation within the design team.

OUTPUT :

Through a workshop, panel and a talk, alongside other cultural and social influencers (such as Aleali May, the first female collaborator on Air Jordans), Nelly Ben Hayoun Studios aided the reflection and creativity of Converse executive team and design team. Born out of this collaboration also came the limited edition converse Nelly Ben Hayoun shoe.
