TASK/CHALLENGE:
Consultant to the marketing, executive and design team
To support and consult on creativity within IKEA executive team and reflect on organisational structure within the team.
APPROACH:
Our methods of engagement with IKEA, as innovation consultants, from ideation to realisation, were radical and specific, making full use of academic research together with theatrical and musical practices, working across different mediums including digital, film, design, music and experiences to lead innovative and inspirational workshops for both the design and executive team at IKEA HQ. Through a bold cooperative approach and meaningful contemporary research, we rethought the role of IKEA so to act as career inspiration and educative curiculums to the development of youths. We proposed an innovative formula for STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) collaborations and we connected the team to experts and stakeholders in science and education, role models and cultural influencers.
OUTPUT:
Our initial project with IKEA HQ carried into 5 years of ongoing collaboration. Creativity was continually nurtured through Dr Ben Hayoun’s role as a jury member for IKEA lead competition. She continued her work with IKEA as a consultant for ‘Space 10’, the innovation hub by IKEA based in Copenhagen alongside consulting on various campaigns with the marketing and design team.
