Did you know that gold nanoparticles are red?

Nelly Ben Hayoun descends on Domaine de Boisbuchet for an exciting week-long workshop this August with Liquid Gold and Other Suns. From August 23 to August 29, as part of the Domaine’s Energies-Synergies 2020 summer workshops programme, Nelly will lead participants in a workshop investigating alchemy, material transformation and other physical experiments which interrogate matter (as we know it), experiences and its related history.

You are invited to research histories of civilisation, diasporas and the movement of populations from territories to territories, from land to sea, land to the sun, or water to land. Participants will be tasked to question cultures and borders through material investigation, illusion, and experiential experiments. Booking is up on the Domaine’s website, with an early bird discount available until April 15th.

What is Liquid Gold and Other Suns?

This workshop proceeds in 4 phases: 1) the finding of a community through physical experimentation, 2) the mapping and staging of the community’s movements, 3) the video recording of our discoveries, and 4) the media distribution of our films. The videos of 3 minutes each shall propose a unique and original vision of histories and their territories while proposing an innovative narrative. Additionally, participants are tasked to investigate new modes of dissemination of their video’s content: “What is coming after online streaming?”.

Who knows, but in the end we might find ourselves in the head of Tutankhamun before his head got cut off in ancient Egypt, experiencing an emotional gaze made of crystals and manufactured sun.

It’s important that participants please bring your smartphones, laptops, cameras as well as any special tool or material you wish to use on this trip.

What is Domaine de Boisbuchet?

Boisbuchet was the dream of design amateur and expert Alexander von Vegesack. He wanted to build a place where design meets education, in a large sense, and he did so on the 150ha Domaine de Boisbuchet. Professionals and students come to the Domaine every year to experience how internationally successful professionals structure their work and how they approach design problems

Every year, the Domaine invites the most inspiring architects & designers from all over the world to give week-long workshops. Every tutor takes into account the inspiring natural environment, and crafts a theme for participants to build upon. Every single workshop is a unique hands-on experience, with the guarantee of learning by doing with materials and tools provided by Boisbuchet. Throughout the week, participants get insight on the process & techniques of top designers, and have the opportunity to connect with like-minded, passionate people.
