I AM (NOT) A MONSTER
ARTIST (S): A FILM BY NELLY BEN HAYOUN-STÉPANIAN
LOCATION: Ciné Utopia, 16, avenue de la Faïencerie, Luxembourg City
An impossible search for the origins, mechanics and dynamics of how thoughts are shaped in the 21st century.
“To act is to start with something new,” said Hannah Arendt, one of the greatest thinkers of all time behind the phrase “trivialization of evil.” Director Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, founder of an alternative university, draws inspiration from the work of Hannah Arendt and gives us, in this documentary, an original and flamboyant performance combining politics and philosophy.
I Am (Not) a Monster traces its quest for the source of knowledge and knowledge through a journey across four continents. This film appears to be particularly necessary with the resurgence of extremism in the world; he explains the mechanisms and also why Trump, Le Pen and others manage to capture the imagination of voters by reviving the dangerous ideologies of the past. Spectators will discover the collective fears of modern society, past and present, meet contemporary monsters and actors of the future: the humanoids.
Far from the educational clichés, Nelly Ben Hayoun-Stépanian, army of puppets and disguised as Hannah Arendt, teases the greatest thinkers of our time while challenging them to define knowledge.
A flagship institution of contemporary art in Luxembourg and internationally, the Casino Luxembourg – Forum for Contemporary Art is exclusively dedicated to contemporary creation. Resolutely focused on artistic production and not on collection and conservation, the art center emphasizes the experimentation and risk-taking inherent in any creative process.
