Guerilla Science commissioned me and the Soyuz Chair for a series of performances and discussion on Space Tourism as part of the Love Box, London music festival in Victoria’s Park, July 17th and 18th 2010.

The Soyuz Chair has been developed in consultation with the french astronaut Jean-Pierre Haignere and sound artist Tim Olden and it based on the Soviet spacecraft Soyuz. Lucky volunteers didn’t actually go into orbit, but the experience was nothing less than out of this world.

I was in discussion with planetary space scientist Sheila Kanani, fromMullard Space Science Laboratory, UCL Department of Space and Climate Physics on Saturday 17th July 2010. We were discussing ways to get into space, what other planets are like, which planets are the best to land on, and what it is going to be like getting there – before you get to experience the sensation for yourself.

The Soyuz Chair was on the Fringe Festival stage.
