Nelly Ben Hayoun is an explorer/ boxer/ director and filmmaker/ designer of experiences/ space and rocket mission designer/ alternative educator & free university founder/ researcher/ inspirational speaker and activist.

Since 2012, she has been designing and programming experiences that bring together scientific communities, the public and the sublime, through multi-disciplinary projects such as The International Space Orchestra. (an orchestra made of NASA Scientists from their base at the NASA Ames Research Center Park and the SETI Institute.) She is also founder and director of The University of the Underground, a tuition-free, pluralistic and transnational university in the basement of nightclubs with board members like Pussy Riot, Massive Attack, Noam Chomsky, Paola Antonelli, Hans Ulrich Obrist, Beatrice Galilee and many others. It is set as a charity and it set for disorder in academia and design education.

In addition, Ben Hayoun has authored and directed three feature length documentaries. Her most recent feature film on the origins of knowledge, titled I Am (Not) A Monster, was nominated for the Best International Documentary award, Grierson Award at the London Film Festival 2019.
