We are SO happy to announce what we have been working on for the past year!!! Happy to introduce to the world Tour de Moon @tour_de_moon , the most alien festival the earth has ever seen BURSARIES ARE NOW AVAILABLE for youths and nightlife workers Join #tourdemoon and collaborate with the moon tourdemoon.com Here to ignite radical imagination
Tour de Moon- a new nationwide touring festival that seeks to support nightlife and ignite radical imaginations in youths across the world and in the UK! With a special focus on nightlife and night-time culture, the multifaceted initiative will make appearances at various locations around the UK next summer, notably including live four-day experiences in Leicester (13–16 May), Newcastle (27–30 May) and Southampton (11–14 June).
Tour de Moon is our dedication to plurality, decolonial practices, social and racial justice, solidarity and equity so to introduce some of the ways we will ‘collaborate with the moon’, we will exclusively transmit onto the moon through Moonbounce- an Earth-Moon-Earth (EME) technology-of a new original mix of the 1980’s song ITT (International Thief Thief) by Afrobeat pioneer and political activist Fela Kuti (1938–1997). Bringing this track back into the present to decolonize the moon from extractive, commercial and colonial expansion, Fela Kuti’s youngest son Seun Kuti (1983) weaves his saxophone into the track. To listen to the original track which has been Moon Bounced please visit: tourdemoon.com/moonbouncefelakutiITT (available on 21st October but do email us if you wish to join the exclusive release).
Alongside launching the track to space, we’re also announcing an open call bursary scheme composed of 850 from £100 to £25,000 that are available for 18-25 year-olds to realise their creative ideas – inspired by our very own satellite, the moon. The scope is broad, the brief radical and the possibilities endless. It might be a piece of music woven with the sounds of the galaxy, a film exploring our relationship with the moon, a concept for a float or a digital installation, a script for a play, an online experience or a DJ performance. Bursaries are open for applications on the Tour de Moon website at tourdemoon.com until the closing date on 6 January 2022. You ask Tour de Moon HQ any questions about applying by mobile, WhatsApp and Telegram on +44 (0)7377 837842. Pretty incredible, huh?
